Mixed-Media Painting

This painting is part of the artist's Nihonga collection. It was made using the traditional Japanese mineral pigment painting methods; a labor intensive process that involves making water based paints, binders, and glue using natural materials bought in Japan. Mineral pigments, pine soot (sumi), indigo, and oxidized Japanese silver leaf all play their part in this finely veiled, multi layered painting on Kumohadamashi washi paper stretched on hardwood panel. It's wired and ready to hang.
