This wall piece made of 95% hand cast abac paper When it has dried an is gessoed the artist applies a cement mixture which, when dried quickly, will create a beautifully cracked surface. Then the artist covers the surface with encaustic wax, (bees wax and dry pigment ). This darkens the cracks and makes a smooth blended surface.
The figure is cut from cedar wood and wrapped with patina and fired coppers. It is then attached to a sand textured silver painted panel which is placed inside the opening in the piece. The white cracked surface creates a wonderful background to show off the brilliant copper colors of the Guardian figure. Weighs approximately 4lbs. Each piece is unique one of a kind and will vary slightly.
