Checkmate Basket

The "Checkmate Basket" is an artistic interpretation of the many moves played during a game of chess. Made with annealed steel wire, the black and white squares are created from layers of papers adhered together. Each square has a different diagram also made with paper: bold black and red lines on white, or more subtle white lines on black. A vintage button and glass bead complete the basket in the center of the base. The Checkmate Basket is strong, able to hold objects, if wished, or nothing at all. Finished with a clear sealant for use. Because the "Checkmate Basket" is handmade, each basket will have minor pattern variations.
