The stunning natural carnelian on display in this statement necklace was cut circa 1850 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, the historically-renowned site for mining and stone-cutting. Attached is a substantial, hand-faceted rock crystal sphere. The necklace moves freely over a column of brown Victorian gutta percha, a naturally-derived latex. The stones comprising the chain are white topaz, fire opal, bronzite, natural zircon, and green seraphinite.
The necklace is 17 inches long with a 4-inch sterling silver extender chain.
