Adult Elk in Winter

The image of this elk was loosely painted with washes of homemade walnut ink with a handmade brush. The spontaneous brush strokes help to create a sense of movement of the animal in the brush at dusk; the mark-making created with these rudimentary tools is expressive, inventive and surprising.
