Black Throated Magpie Jay on Hill
Wood Sculpture
Created by
Dona Dalton
Inspired by the clever Blue-Throated Magpie Jay, a bird known for its showy flight and its wily foraging, this poplar wood sculpture is carved on a bandsaw and painted with layers of latex enamel paint. Staying true to the coloration of the species, the work displays black feet and eye-catching blue and white patterning as it perches upon a carved wood mound with charming blades of grass painted along its sides.
