Julie Cohn Design
Twentieth Century Sculptors Noguchi, Calder and Brancusi who drew their inspiration from primitive ethnic form and crafts, have influenced Cohn's work in jewelry. Her pieces, designed to layer and stack, create one of a kind collages or small sculptures that uniquely mix disparate elements with simple elegance.
Choosing bronze for its luster and connection to traditional sculpture, layered with sterling silver, gold and semi precious stones, her jewelry has a warm, organic quality. Drawing in wax in addition to hand carving her jewelry models has allowed her to create multi-layered textural elements to the collection.
Artist and designer, Julie Cohn, known for the stationary company Two Women Boxing and design partnerships with Chronicle Books, Fitz and Floyd, Surya Rugs and others, launched her jewelry company in spring of 2011. Self taught, she employs unconventional techniques in her jewelry design. Creating forms by sculpting and drawing in wax, her collection exudes an ancient yet modern feel.
