Sandra Bonazoli

Beehive Handmade

"I’m nostalgic by nature, so the holidays always have a bit of bittersweet longing for me. The ritual of Christmas trees is my favorite part of the holiday, and I’ve tried to capture the simplicity and magic of decorating an evergreen tree to celebrate the solstice with these folk-art inspired ornaments."

Sandra Bonazoli’s mission is to transform useful humble objects into meaningful things by elevating the experience of everyday tasks. By employing nostalgic motifs in conjunction with simple utilitarian forms she aims to rekindle feelings of joy and pleasure in daily life, and to evoke memories of the user's personal history.

She utilizes traditional jewelry processes and production methods in tandem with silversmithing techniques such as sheet metalwork, fabrication, casting, and spinning, in inventive ways to create everyday objects for the home.

Sandra studied jewelry at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and in Florence, Italy. She received her Masters in Fine Arts in Jewelry and Metalwork from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Since 1999, along with her husband Jim Dowd, she’s produced a line of metalwork under the name Beehive Handmade. Their collaborative work has been shown at the American Craft Museum in New York City and featured in numerous publications including Handmade By Design.
