"I fight the mundane…when I began making jewelry, earrings were a struggle. Making something twice was just not in me. Designing at the bench one day, pieces of metal fell together organically. That moment ignited a passion for asymmetry, balancing two separate sculptures that become cohesive as a pair. I am continually working with the relationship between the sensual and mechanical."
Kim loves creating a feeling of individuality, fulfilling the desire to feel special that comes from wearing something handmade. The connection between the object, the wearer, and the artist. In this way, she hopes to delight your spirit!
Kim fabricates all of her pieces with an acetylene oxygen torch, focusing on one-of-a-kind pieces. Mostly working with sterling silver and 22k gold, she is inspired by agates, jaspers and many other stones. They are all precious stones to her. Kim's work draws out women who want to show off their playful side in their jewelry.
Working from her home studio, Kim has been making jewelry for over 40 years. She has served on the board of directors of the Minnesota Craft Council and has pieces in the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society.
