Arrows Bowl
Art Glass Bowl
Created by
Patti Hegland and Dave Hegland
Featuring an intricate angular design of cream-colored glass placed on edge, this sculptural piece incorporates segments of hand-pulled murrini in cream, an accent color, and clear to form a balanced vessel. The detail is enhanced by the vessel's satin interior.
The strong geometry and structure of this work is inherent in the strip construction approach used to create it. Large sheets of glass are cut into narrow strips, laid on edge, and combined with separately created vitrograph-formed murrine inclusions to form a complex design. After using the kiln to fuse the glass together into a solid piece, the glass is again heated and then slumped into a ceramic mold to form the desired shape. Once the piece has cooled, the artists cold work the glass by grinding, sandblasting, and polishing to greatly enhance the visual impact of the finished work.

6"H, 11"Dia
