"My work incorporates dream-like imagery into the thick layers of a glass canvas."

The colors and textures of nature are the departure points for many of Bladholm's innovative explorations with blown glass. Summers in Door County, Wisconsin, as a child, and extensive travels in Europe have influenced his work.

Eric Bladholm's blown glass designs involve multiple sections, usually a base piece and a custom-fitted sculptural lid. At their smallest, these pieces resemble their functional relatives, the perfume bottle. At their wildest, mold-blown glass is utilized to create abstract/industrial shapes that are presented in an organic cast metal base.

Bladholm got his start in glass and art early. At age 11, his older sister taught him how to make stained and leaded glass, which he pursued until he discovered the art of glassblowing in college. After completing his BFA in fine art and glass at California College of Arts and Crafts, he spent a season in Europe working with several renowned glass masters. He then returned to Chicago to meet the challenges of building a studio of his own.

If you're looking for a soft, serene glow, this isn't it. The piece is well-made. I would buy from this artist again. But the beautiful, muted lamp online is not what I received. It is really, really red. I love the tempered glow of the website picture but wondered why only one image was shown. Kinda still wondering...

I even traded out the included bulb for a lower wattage bulb. It helped some but the lamp is still too bright red and the bulb is much shorter so it's not the same effect. And there's nothing lower wattage. If the pic had been accurate, I would've simply ordered the artist's white lamp-- Winter Ice. So disappointing. On top of it all, I recently bought a new home and I'm still unpacking from my move and I didn't open the box right away. Then I tried leaving the lamp on for 3 days, moving it around to different areas, hoping to grow accustomed to it. I missed the 14 day exchange/return period by a week. My own fault.

LAVA LAMP!/red fissure

The lamp is beautiful, but I am disappointed. because I recently purchased the same lamp for my other bedroom side table. This one is bigger and more colorful, I LIKE IT BETTER, than the last one. I like things too be more symmetrical! PLEASE MAKE ERIC AWARE OF THIS! i would like a response to this. I WOULD BE GLAD TO SEND PICTURES.

Thank you for your feedback. Someone from Customer Care will be in touch to address your concern.
