Art Glass Wall Sculpture
Created by
Doug Gillis
The inspiration for this contemporary fused glass wall sculpture of an abstract landscape comes from the vistas of New Mexico. Strata build from the bottom up, with the earth meeting the dramatic New Mexico sky above, reinforcing the region’s reputation as the “Land of Enchantment.”
Using the natural edge of the glass and silver leaf to mimic the earth’s contours, the work is formed in a high-temperature kiln over repeated firings. The finished glass is suspended from a riser above a backing of satin anodized aluminum, allowing light to shine through. Hand-painted metallic silver cradled wood frame. Signed on the back and ready to hang.
