"My body of work reaffirms the artist's historical role as a maker of objects for utility, pleasure, and symbolic meaning."

Carol Green's evolution as an artist began with thrown tableware, bathroom basins, and pressed tiles, then progressed to mixed-media designs in clay and metal. Further art study and her penchant for historical research led to a dramatic change in her work.

Today, Green's pieces include wheel-thrown pottery and cast bronze vessels influenced by classical form. Mica-impregnated, raku-fired earthenware vessels in gourd shapes. Lids fabricated from copper and decorated with bronze handles constructed from grapevines or twigs. The cast bronze vessels reference the ancient world, while the gourd series reflects an Asian aesthetic.

Carol Green received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an MFA in metalsmithing from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and an MA in popular culture from Bowling Green State University. Her work can be found in a variety of collections, including the Ohio Craft Museum and The Palace Hotel in Beijing.
