The Taste of Tea
Mixed-Media Sculpture
Created by
Mary Ann Owen and Malcolm Owen
"The Taste of Tea" is a sculpture made from altered books, hand fabricated copper teapots and teacups. There are 23 cast, sterling silver figures, climbing, pushing, pulling and raising up the teapots and cups. They are busy when it comes to tea! Each teapot or teacup is assembled, then oxidized to produce a dark patina. Every piece is then bolted to the pile of books which are also bolted and glued together. You cannot open the books. Used books living another life in the form of art.
