You're the first to get it—and it will ship as soon as it's ready.

Textured photographs of everything from corrugated metal to digitized TV images create the movement in this brilliantly colored piece. Original image layers, silver leaf, and acrylics on aluminum canvas with steel structural elements. Bringing together the artist's love of metal surfaces with imagery and painting. Girardini can create works that not only glow with reflected light, but also have a texture that appears to float above the aluminum surface. He incorporates images, printed digitally on transparent layers, and adhered or transferred directly onto the work, that enhance both metal and paint in unexpected ways. Limited edition of 25. Each piece is unique and will vary slightly. Ready to hang.

Ken Girardini and Julie Girardini

Girardini Fine Art and Design
"We are inspired by the duality of metal—how it can be molten and fluid in one state and cool and structured in another."

In this husband and wife partnership, Ken is the welder and Julie the finisher. Together, they create objects for the home that look artful and sculptural even before a bottle of merlot or a daisy is added.

The Girardinis work primarily in cold-rolled steel, but they often add curiosities like glass, brass, copper, paper, and wood. To begin each piece, Ken and Julie gather metal bits and pieces from around their studio and try different combinations of scale and size until they find a basic form with aesthetic appeal. Ken draws from his background with NASA to engineer these designs. The pieces are then built from structural or cold-finished steel, welded, polished, and ground until smooth.

For more than 25 years, Ken and Julie have deliberately chosen to make a living with their hands and minds. Both self taught as artists, Ken and Julie pride themselves on creating each and every piece by hand. They have participated in a number of the most prestigious juried art and craft shows in the United States, including the American Craft Council Shows, The Philadelphia Museum Craft Show, and The Washington Craft Show.

Girardini's do it again!

This is one stunning piece of artwork. I have it paired with my Defying Chaos boat and oh mercy do they just light up a room. Just today, I had a guy over to replace a gas meter. When he walked into the room this is hanging in his comment was; "That is an incredible picture! Is that real?" This picture has vivid colors, depth and presence. This is my fourth Girardini piece and certain will not be the last.
