"Canyon and Clouds" is a new painting by Judy Hawkins. Although the artist lives in Vermont, she is inspired by trips to the Southwest where she has a small adobe house near Big Bend National Park. The vibrant colors of the land can be seen in the canyons and gulches which expose the rich mineral layers which lay beneath the earth. The drama of the sky compliments the rich and varied colors of the landscape. This original oil is painted on a gallery-wrap canvas and is ready to hang. An archival varnish has been applied to protect the painting's vibrant colors. Sides are unpainted.

Judy Hawkins paints bold and colorful landscapes dominated by dramatic clouds and unexpected color. Hawkins begins each oil painting at the top and works her way down, working quickly to establish mood through color and composition. She allows the paint, drips and color combinations to guide her vision for each piece.

Hawkins has painted since she was six years old. She attended Boston University School of Fine Arts, The Brooklyn Museum School, and Windham College, where she majored in art and later taught design and drawing.
