Suzanne Siegel

Suzanne Siegel

"Regardless of subject, my work is about light, space, and tranquility. I edit what I see into strong shapes and luminous colors to transport the viewer into a moment of peace and beauty."

A disciplined artist, Suzanne Siegel works in her studio or in the field every day, usually from early morning until late afternoon. As she says, "No matter where I am or what I am doing, I am always painting inside my head, looking for inspiration by observing shapes, color and value relationships, and the light--the amazing beauty of light and how it influences everything."

Siegel takes long walks in the landscapes she paints in order to find something that will stop her in her tracks. Then she knows she must pause and consider whether what she sees can be translated into a painting. She works on location with either watercolors or pastels, making sketches and color studies to jog her memory in the studio, where she completes larger paintings.

An award-winning artist, Siegel received her B.F.A. from the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, where she received the Stobart Fellowship for excellence in painting. She earned an M.F.A. in visual art from Vermont College and has received awards from the Connecticut Watercolor Society, New Haven Paint and Clay, Connecticut Pastel Society, Pastel Painters of Maine, and the Pastel Society of New Hampshire.

Sublime

The art work reminds me so much of my summers in Maine and in Washington. It now hangs in an entryway of all trees. I currently live in southern California. I had it framed and it is perfectly calming almost zen in all good ways,

Better than other Artful Home orders

Very pleased. Unlike a previous order from Artful Home (not this artist), this artist processed my order in a timely fashion, packaging was appropriate, and I will order again.

Haunting and evocative

I was immediately attracted to this painting-the striking colors, the suggestion of loneliness, the water setting that calls to me, the absence of people. I live in a small house that is already filled with art, but it is just as beautiful in a small size alone on a wall in my dining area. Much appreciation to the artist and to Artful Home for its exquisite taste!
