Champleve enamel and sterling silver pendant is hand fabricated and then cast in sterling silver. The enamel is inlaid and fired several times in a kiln, building up multiple fine layers to achieve a rich coloration. After firing is complete, the enamel is ground off of the exposed silver surfaces. The sterling is oxidized, steel brushed, and rubbed with pumice. The enamel is etched to a matte finish. Jewelry designer Carly Wright has worked with stone, both as inspiration for her organic, contemporary jewelry, and also as a stone mason. The ancient layers and crevasses of sedimentary rock provide endless inspiration and impart serenity to her work, as does the laying of stone upon stone to form an architecture in the landscape.

Wright uses the enameling technique of champleve, firing fine granules of glass into recessed areas that are created with layers of sterling silver. Each piece is fired from 3 to 30 times in a kiln and ground smooth. The sterling silver is oxidized and steel brushed. Her enamel surfaces are etched to a soft matte finish.

She received a B.F.A. degree from Empire State College and continued with additional studies focused on the art of enameling at the Penland School of Crafts.

I love the colorful mosaic jewelry that Carly Wright creates. I'd purchased earrings from her in the past, and couldn't resist the pendant with many shades of pastel colors. Very pleased with my purchase.

This pendant, like all of Carly Wright's jewelry, is beautiful. The colors are subtle and the texture adds so much to each lovely piece. I have collected many of her pieces over the last 30 years and they do not loose their appeal. I get so many compliments when I wear a pendant of hers. The way she uses colors juxtaposed against each other and the silver between the colors is so striking! This particular pendant is a perfect size!
