Dan Mirer's work is rooted in the design process and created with an aesthetic that embraces simplistic beauty and an appreciation of function. Dan takes pride in personally making each piece himself from start to finish in Corning, NY.
In his line of drinkware, 23k gold and 12k white gold leaf is rolled on and fused to the glass bubble while the vessel is being blown. A delicate folding and expanding of the leaves make each piece unique. The surface of the glass is formed in graphite and metal molds to produce a rippled texture, accentuating the reflections of the gold.
Dan began his education at age 16, attending the Rochester Institute of Technology (AAS). He continued to study glass at Alfred University (BFA), the Pukeberg School of Design, Sweden, and Tyler School of Art and Architecture (MFA).
