"Rainbow" Stemless glasses are handblown from the furnace using cane techniques inspired by venetian glassmakers. Each line is a transparent color over a white core. Canes are laid on a cane marver, heated, and rolled onto a bubble. Once the canes are melted in, the bubble is divided into four equal sections. The resulting supio's are then picked up individually gathered over, twisted and blown to shape.

Using both furnace and flameworking techniques, Marc VandenBerg creates engaging designs that reflect his spirited personality. He taught himself flameworking in the mid-1990s while attending Michigan State University. After graduation, he worked at The Henry Ford as part of a furnace production team. He has since taught and demonstrated internationally. He runs his own studio in Detroit, Michigan.
