This wall art was inspired by life changes: The leaves are evolving, as they do with the changing seasons. It was created by cutting thin pieces of glass and fitting them together, on edge, and fusing them together. This piece was fused multiple times, after cutting the larger pieces into triangles and leaf shapes, to add the 'rain drops' and finally, after sandblasting, to give a wonderful satin finish. Signed on the back.

Sherry G Selevan
"Glass is amazing, opaque and translucent, joyful and mysterious. I prize quality craftsmanship, and create practical and decorative items out of this magical material."

After years of working as an artist in different media, Sherry G. Selevan discovered glass. Colors, forms, and shapes from the natural world, architecture, and textiles inspire her, and her pieces have modern lines and show a wonderful eye for color. In addition, many of her pieces have a silk-like sandblasted finish, difficult to show in images and elegantly beautiful in person.

Selevan begins her work by cutting, arranging and then fusing small pieces of glass in a kiln using temperatures of up to 1500 degrees Fahrenheit. The resulting fused pieces are then "cold-worked" (sawed, sanded, sandblasted, and drilled) and returned to the kiln multiple times to get the final finish and shape that the artist desires.

Sherry Selevan has studied with national and international glass masters. A background in science has given her insight into the behavior of glass when heated and manipulated and an understanding of chemical reactions among different glasses.
