Jewelry designer Erica Zap has been surrounded by art and craft all of her life. Her parents owned an international handcraft shop that sold artwork collected from their extensive travels around the world. This early exposure to exotic art and culture has greatly influenced her work.

Each of Zap's designs starts with brass shapes and forms that are electroplated in a variety of metals. These elements are then combined with carved and cast toggles or magnetic clasps.

Erica Zap graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a BFA in gold- and silversmithing.

So wish the chain were 2-3 inches longer. I'm not a large lady, yet this is simply too tight to wear! Very sad, as otherwise the quality is excellent.

Beautiful necklace; however, even as a "choker" style, I cannot wear because the chain is so extremely short that it hardly fits around my neck. Very uncomfortably tight! Must return.
