As Lambert left the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown LA she looked up. Sunlight bounces through the crossing support beams. They are shimmering jewels. So many layers, each one reflecting light or sinking into shadows.

The artist is inspired by compelling visual stories, intense contrast, brilliant colors, and the hand of man dancing with nature. Transitional times of day, like sunset, sunrise, and dramatic skies especially bring me joy. Sometimes those elements come together in unexpected place, like the ceiling of the Los Angeles Convention Center in early afternoon.

Lambert is a cityscape oil painter passionate about bright colors and deep contrast. Her inspirations are the fluid light, dramatic vistas, quiet neighborhoods and stark landscapes of California and the Southwest. She paints with a vibrant palette and expressive brushstrokes to share her vision of an essence of the urban experience. She hopes that the viewer will be inspired to see the world around them in a new, beautiful light.

This work is rendered in many layers of oil paint on gallery-wrapped canvas with unpainted sides.

"My oil paintings bring to life the vibrant, fluid dance between nature and energized urban neighborhoods during the magic hour."

Oil painter Bonnie Lambert is excited by intense color and deep contrast. A vibrant palette and expressive brushstrokes are her tools for rendering familiar urban scenes. Among her inspirations are frenetic rush hour traffic; quiet neighborhoods sinking into twilight; hectic urban activity; and power lines and telephone poles slicing the sky into geometric shapes.

Lambert uses her own photographs as inspiration for her oil paintings. Then, on canvas, she overpaints color upon color in multiple layers until she achieves a luminescent depth and dynamic impasto.

With a BFA in theater from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Lambert was a professional theater actress for more than 17 years. Moving to California, she studied oil painting at the Art Center School of Design, Pasadena. Besides her life as an actor, her most significant influence as a fine artist is her mentor: internationally exhibited, museum-collected artist Margaret Garcia.
