Rascona Art
"I study forms, physics, and composition; all so that I might play with shapes."

Nick aims to deconstruct the world he sees, to study form, and make sense of light, shape, and shadow. His work might be inspired by the curve of a single leaf or the flat planes of a prickly pear. Ultimately Nick is a craftsman creating art inspired by the desert, he relates his work to music, "some of my songs have written lyrics and some are just played by feel."

Nick's work is all rooted in drawing and design. He drafts ideas in the sketchbook, then crafts the compositions out of woods, metals, and paint utilizing a variety of professional fabrication techniques. Nick is an AWS certified welder with extensive experience, he is also a skilled wood carver, and he studied painting for years before primarily focusing on sculpture.

Nick Rascona is an Arizona-based Artist who graduated from ASU with a BFA in painting. Nick operates as an independent artist out of his 1000 sq/ft studio space in Tempe, regularly creating and selling public and private artworks ranging in scale. He is experienced in 2d/3d design, welding, woodworking, and painting, and his work is a blend of these different disciplines as well as his desert roots.
