Glass Eye Studio

"Founded in Seattle in 1978, Glass Eye Studio has spent nearly five decades creating handcrafted American art glass that celebrates color, light, and the enduring beauty of exceptional craftsmanship. What began as a small glassblowing studio serving visitors to Seattle's iconic Pike Place Market has grown into one of America's most respected independent glass studios, while remaining committed to designing and producing every piece in the United States."

Today, the studio is majority-owned and creatively directed by artist Piper O'Neill, whose vision honors Glass Eye's rich heritage while guiding its continued evolution. Under her leadership, the studio blends contemporary design with time-honored Venetian glassmaking techniques, creating distinctive collections that feel both timeless and unmistakably modern.

Every Glass Eye piece is individually handcrafted by skilled artisans using molten glass gathered from the furnace and shaped through centuries-old techniques. From the first batch of glass melted before dawn to the final quality inspection before shipment, each object reflects the hands, experience, and dedication of the artists who create it. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, making every work a unique expression of the medium. Glass Eye Studio is known for combining vibrant color with technical excellence. The studio employs a wide range of traditional and contemporary glassmaking techniques—including cane work, dichroic glass, gold leaf application, feathering, trailing, and intricate hot-glass sculpting—to create objects that capture and transform light. Whether displayed in a window, collected over decades, or given to commemorate life's milestones, each piece is designed to become an heirloom.

Deeply influenced by Seattle's remarkable glassmaking tradition and the creative spirit fostered by the nearby Pilchuck Glass School, Glass Eye Studio continues to push the boundaries of accessible American art glass. The studio believes exceptional design should be both collectible and approachable, creating museum-quality works that can be lived with, enjoyed every day, and passed from one generation to the next. Nearly fifty years after its founding, Glass Eye Studio remains dedicated to preserving the tradition of American studio glass while continually exploring new ideas, new techniques, and new ways to bring beauty into everyday life.
