"My camera is my life journal. With it, I endeavor to clarify and record my emotional responses to what I see and experience in the world around me. My goal is to share these responses with my viewers and to ignite within them a sense of elevated and meaningful discovery. "

Speedy spent 26 years photographing intensely demanding assignments for the advertising industry. He now shoots his own fine art photography. Whether his subject is an early morning oceanscape, a still life in his studio, or a rusting, sun-baked pickup out West, his passion and artistry expose a unique and fresh vision of the world around us.

In Speedy's studio, a seemingly simple still life can take days to get right. On location, he researches and scouts his chosen subjects exhaustively, often returning to the same place many times in order to be there at the perfect moment of light and atmospheric conditions. He shoots with digital Canon cameras, having made the change from film and the darkroom several years ago.

After high school, Speedy attended Brooks Institute of Photography. Upon finishing his studies, he relocated to New York City and worked for many accomplished photographers. During this time, he honed his skills in the studio, on location, and in the darkroom, while also learning the nuances of light, composition, and shooting styles. This rigorous background prepared him well for the move into fine art photography.
