Aqua Retro Coasters

Art Glass Coasters

(ID: A81714)
Created by Helen Rudy
Carefully chosen coordinating colors create this striking, fresh and very retro style coasters. They use a clear base so light can diffuse through. The colors are aqua blue, french vanilla and warm brown.

Lots of colored squares and rectangles of hand cut glass layered on top of each other. The glass is fired in a kiln until it becomes one single piece of glass.

Each piece is lovingly handmade and unique. Exact patterning and colors may vary slightly. Signed and dated. Sold in a set of four coasters.

      Comments about Aqua Retro Coasters:

I was not a willing coaster-shopper to begin with, never intended to spend so much and agonized for a week before committing to buy them. That said, now that I have seen (and touched) them in person, I am convinced these gorgeous and serviceable art glass coasters are a bargain that will delight me forever. They are so pleasing to look at, the way the colors are saturated, the beautiful, light-catching gloss.

What prompted my shopping excursion was the destruction of the last of my original coasters, pretty mirrored ones, that died a few weeks ago when I lifted my drinking glass and the coaster came with it, then fell away and shattered. Like most coasters, they were light in weight and tended to cling, especially when condensation formed.

I resolved to find sturdier coasters that were still beautiful. While looking, I saw that the sturdy ones were mostly unappealing but the pretty ones that had an appealing mid century vibe that could fit well with my home were too small and flimsy. It was only when I found this line of coasters that the qualities of practicality breathtaking artistry were present in equal measure. They will be used and enjoyed for many years to come if not forever.
