"I create glass that adds to the pleasure of the drink."

Tom Stoenner has always believed that objects made by hand offer a shared experience between the maker and the user. "A simple object can forge connections," he says. The artist has concentrated on functional work for more than a quarter of a century. If it is suitable for everyday use, so much the better. If it displaces a machine-made item in the owner's cabinet, it is a success.

Using techniques borrowed from both production glassmaking and the studio art glass movement, Stoenner creates drinkware that incorporates random patterning and uniform shapes and sizes. Every piece is similar, but different.

Not What Is Pictured

I finally received my new artglass piece and was very disappointed by the way it looked. It arrived with heavy white stippling all over the top of the piece. I did not see this in the original photo ( and thought surely there must be some mistake)...until I zoomed in hard on the photo from the website. And then I could see what looked like a vague translucent white wash of some sort that I thought was just part of the glass. But it was there. The rest of the piece is wonderful and what I wanted. But I have a hard time looking past this stippling because it is so distracting and detracting from the rest of the piece. DANG.

Colors don't quite match

I bought these magnificent perfume bottles for my sister who has a beautiful collection. I purposely chose the colors above as I found them the most appealing and they were a perfect match for her decor. While she loves them and the sentimental value, the colors are well off the mark and the purple is completely missing from the smaller orange bottle. I wonder if this is typical ... I assumed it would look like the photos. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when she sent photos as we live 2000 miles from one another.
