Silkwood Glass
"Enlarging people's capacity for experiencing wonder in their lives is at the root of my creative process. I want the viewer to walk away from my work with a greater appreciation for the world around them and a heightened awareness of the natural beauty that surrounds them. "

Treg Silkwood has a deep affinity for the elegant beauty of many natural forms he finds in nature. He loves the sense of excitement and wonder he feels discovering something new on his walks along the California coast. In translating these experiences into glass, Silkwood enriches his appreciation for the intricate complexity of the natural world and forms a personal connection to the place he calls home.

Silkwood uses both traditional and nontraditional glass techniques to create his work. He considers the crossover between disciplines—namely, glassblowing, torchworking, and fusing—to be an area rich in creative potential. By bringing a torch into the hot shop, Silkwood attains a level of detail that glassblowing alone cannot achieve.

Treg Silkwood's glass career spans more than twenty years. He received a BFA in 1996 from Alfred University. He worked as a master gaffer for the Henry Ford Museum and for the Corning Museum of Glass Hot Glass Roadshow. He currently works as an independent artist and artistic director/senior instructor at the Bay Area Glass Institute in San Jose, California.

Impressive.

I chose the pink acorn and it is beautiful though, of course, not a color found in acorns in nature. Sizable with iridescent glass making up the acorn cap it is a charming addition to my Fall decor.

So gorgeous!

I thought it might be too big or clunky when I saw it, but I'm glad I ordered it. It is stunning and a beautiful addition to my fall decor.

Very Cute

This is petite acorn but the color is fabulous. It does need a good lighting to get the really vibrant color shown in the picture but it is still striking if you don't have a lot of light on it.

My new favorite Fall decoration

This is exquisite. Such beautiful colors, well made and a treasure I know I can pass down to others.
For some of the others questions below(I.e. smaller than expected, etc), I wish you'd had a line for "Better than Expected!" I am so delighted with my purchase.
