Solinglass
"My work is a juxtaposition of weighted organic form and sharp polished edges. I approach glass like a painter to a canvas or a weaver using thread to create an intricate tapestry. The coloration, vivid and original, is reminiscent of a swatch of fabric. "

Randi Solin brings a rich, painterly effect to her glass creations. The dance between the fluidity of molten glass and the rigidity of the final, cooled form is kept alive in her creations. She never tires of looking for ways to push glass to the edge. She continues to challenge preconceived notions about blown glass, dazzling collectors with her exceptional technical skill and highly inventive coloration style.

Randi Solin combines techniques from the American studio art glass movement and classic Venetian glassblowing to create a style that is entirely her own. Using glass powder, cane, frit, and rod like a painter's palette, she builds layer upon layer of color, creating truly original, one-of-a-kind work.

Randi Solin received a BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. In 1995, she established Solinglass Studio in Mt. Shasta, California, and in 1997, she relocated to her current studio in Brattleboro, Vermont. An award-winning artist, she has shown her work in both solo and group exhibitions across the USA. Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the White House, several US embassies, and the Beijing World Trade Center. Her work is also represented in many private collections and more than 75 galleries nationwide.

Color/Finish: darker than expected
I would buy this again.

This is a magnificent piece. I was fully aware that there would be variations in the actual piece and the
picture, but there was significant change. In the picture I saw light green and orange. Actually there is
a dark red and dark green and brown. I turned the vessel around around the found an interesting scenerio.
The colors were slightly muted from those seen in the front, so this view blends with my collection to a
better extent.
