Candlesticks in green and red. The candlesticks are constructed from wrapped slabs of stoneware clay for the green and terracotta clay for the red. The green glaze is created by the layering of metallic oxides with a barium mat glaze. The red glaze is new and relies on the layering of underglazes, a base glaze and overglaze stains.

The realm of ceramic art is vast. Daniel Slack, a longtime traveler there, began his journey in the arena of functional wares, progressed onward to vessel art, and has now found his way into ceramic figure sculpture.

Inspired and delighted by his muse, a border collie heeler named June, Slack is currently making work all about dogs. Effortlessly and without a shred of guile, June provides a stream of fresh material.

Every dog sculpture is one of a kind. They are hand built from earthenware and terra-cotta clays and then fired in a kiln. After that comes glazing, part two of the process, which is equally challenging because it can make or break a piece. Vases, cups, and bowls continue to be part of Slack's repertoire, like songs on a previous record. But the dogs, led by June, are out in front.

much loved - much pleasure upon each gaze and glance!

I bought two of these artful candle holders in green. How can something be so graceful and yet so rustic? Just perfect!
They are as pictured, no surprises upon opening the box in terms of colour and shape. (my computer image of them did not make them look glossy or uniformly shaded, so I wasn't "disappointed"
by their lack of a smooth, shiny surface, or by the shading of the glaze and the unglazed bottom surface and bits of raw clay peeking up from the bottom; I wouldn't have bought them if they were glossy or uniform).

Perfectly stable on both a hard, flat surface, and on a tablecloth covered surface. Holds tapers securely.
And, to my mind, these are so reasonably priced for such lovely, functional art! Pure happiness with this purchase.

These Wrapt Candlesticks are lovely. Exactly as I expected. I ordered the green and it sets off my display. The artist is Daniel Slack and I will definitely order more from him in the future. Thank you so much, Daniel!

Not for me. Disappointing.

Very primitive and not well balanced. Bottom edge on one was not painted. I'd return them if I'd kept the receipt and had a return label. Send me a label please so they can return to sender.
