In Between the Lines Vase

Ceramic Vase

Created by Lisa Scroggins
This vase is created from a warm white earthenware clay. The vessel is first wheel thrown and trimmed. While the vase is still greenware, clay's most fragile state, the artist brushes hundreds of lines and swirls of rich black underglaze in an African-inspired pattern that wraps around the body of the vase. A removable sphere is shaped to fit atop the fluted neck and is glazed a rich red with multiple layers to achieve its deep color. The red sphere can be placed on the vase when there are no flowers and taken off when in use.

The vase and red sphere are finished inside and out with three layers of a clear gloss glaze. The artist's signature is brushed on the bottom of the piece, and the vase is fired in the kiln once more.

Limited edition of 50. Each piece is unique; slight variations in shape, dimensions, and colors will occur.
