Yellow Vase with Blue Tailed Skink
This low fire white earthenware vase is first wheel thrown and trimmed. The skink is hand-sculpted with meticulous detail and placed so that it looks like it could actually run off of the piece. This vessel is bisque fired before several layers of a bright, deep yellow underglaze are brushed onto the creamy white surface. The skink is painted in a gradation of vertical stripes in a range from white to yellow, green, turquoise and ending in a medium blue. This is in contrast to the black and white details on the skink. 3 layers of clear, gloss glaze are then brushed over the underglaze and inside the vase to waterproof. It is then kiln fired one final time. Each piece is unique. This vase is perfect as a sculptural piece of art or equally at home filled with flowers. Slight variations in composition, dimensions, and colors may occur.Limited edition of 125.
