Ceramic artist Rhonda Cearlock is inspired by the patchwork of fields, the change of seasons, the rising and setting of the sun, and the textures of landscapes. Working in clay for over thirty years, she uses these influences to guide her richly organic contemporary work. Her studio is nestled in the woods and overlooks a lake.

Cearlock's work is made up of many clay elements. The pieces are extruded, hand-built, slumped, and press molded. Chosen pieces are then textured using hand-built clay stamps and found objects with interesting patterns. The pieces are fired in a homemade kiln or pit-fired, then are assembled and painted with acrylic paint.

Rhonda Cearlock studied ceramics at Eastern Illinois University. She has a BA and an MA in ceramics and sculpture.

The sculpture arrived over the weekend and I hung the three pieces in our entry way, it looks great. Just the perfect piece to compliment the table underneath it. It is well made and great colors it fun and funky

Rhonda's expertise with color and texture makes this sculpture change with the light all day. I see various intrigue in color and design application. I love it!

perfect!

This is exactly as pictured. I t came VERY carefully wrapped and was extremely easy to hang. It is the first piece of art we have unglanceable in the living room in our recently renovated home and looks absolutely beautiful. This was our first Artful Home purchase, but it most certainly will not be our last if my with list is any indication. Wonderful!
