Lisa Kesler Studio
"I use color and pattern to infuse my work with life, energy, and vitality."

Lisa Kesler's mixed-media works on paper and canvas integrate printmaking, collage, and painting. She is intrigued by the possibilities of repetition and the rhythm and movement it brings to a composition. She is also very aware of the role that texture plays in her art, whether it is the actual texture of the surface or the implied texture of the marks.

Kesler approaches her compositions in a very intuitive way, letting them evolve as she works. While she paints, she mostly thinks about the interplay of colors and the direction of the marks. She stylizes forms into simpler geometric shapes and juxtaposes bold colors in fanciful compositions.

A full-time artist for almost thirty years, Kesler received a BFA in painting from the University of Illinois and an MFA in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
