The inspiration for "Lauren's View" was the East Putney Brook spring run-off between the artist's house and her neighbor's house. The ripples, splashes, eddies, and waves of the brook caught Hawkins' attention and she knew she wanted to capture it in a painting. This oil is painted on gallery-wrapped canvas with painted sides and is ready to hang on the wall.

Judy Hawkins paints bold and colorful landscapes dominated by dramatic clouds and unexpected color. Hawkins begins each oil painting at the top and works her way down, working quickly to establish mood through color and composition. She allows the paint, drips and color combinations to guide her vision for each piece.

Hawkins has painted since she was six years old. She attended Boston University School of Fine Arts, The Brooklyn Museum School, and Windham College, where she majored in art and later taught design and drawing.
