Distance to View

This oil pastel was created on heavy cold pressed watercolor paper. The image depicts a landscape on the bluff overlooking the dramatic Mississippi River Basin. Maakestad's interest was in the color pallet that evolved after sunset just occurred. Often colors are intensified at this time of day.

Museum matted. Edge of art is underneath the mat and paper is held down by mat to avoid buckling. The frame is clear finished maple with glass.
