Prayers for Rain
Painted Wall Sculpture
Created by Ken Girardini and Julie Girardini
The Chinese I Ching symbol for thunder floats in the golds and yellows, while steel "rain drops" descend from digitized layers of a photograph of a storm. Original image layers, gold leaf, and acrylics on aluminum canvas with steel structure. Bringing together the artist's love of metal surfaces with imagery and painting. Girardini can create works that not only glow with reflected light, but also have a texture that appears to float above the aluminum surface. He incorporates images, printed digitally on transparent layers, and adhered or transferred directly onto the work, that enhance both metal and paint in unexpected ways. Limited edition of 25. Each piece is unique and will vary slightly.
