To create each stunning piece, the artist assembles dozens of small, precisely cut maple blocks into a rough shape, then turns it on a lathe to form an elegant silhouette. The artist's signature use of negative space adds further interest and depth. The surface is dyed and lacquered for a richness of color rarely seen in wood.
