Bunny With A Toolbelt

Hilary Pfeifer
"I believe that using handmade objects as the centerpiece of a celebration builds lifelong traditions that remind us of the feelings we had that day we first used them. Holiday decorations are brought out annually and set the mood for a festive home. My designs merge old world craftsmanship with humor and happiness to remind you of the most important days of your life."

Hilary Pfeifer runs a business from her Portland, Oregon studio called Bunny with a Toolbelt. As a craft-influenced sculptor, Hilary Pfeifer brings together years of study in many media, including woodworking and furniture design, metalsmithing, ceramics, bookbinding, letterpress, photography, fiber arts, and more. In addition to her adorable critters, Hilary also creates one-of-a-kind bird sculptures made from reclaimed hardwoods.

A dedication to creative reuse fuels much of this work, and each Bunny with a Toolbelt piece is made from over 75% upcycled wood. Hilary's technique combines carved and shaped elements, with the intent of making standalone pieces that also combine and recombine with other figures to create your own unique holiday display.

Pfeifer graduated from Oregon College of Art and Craft in 1999. Since then, she has been commissioned to create several public artworks, including an installation at the Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, OR. Her work can also be found in the permanent collections of the State of Oregon, the White House, the Museum of Art in Wood, and the Museum of Contemporary Craft. She was the subject of a feature article in the December 2013 issue of American Craft Magazine.

My friend love love loved it!

I bought this as a gift, and gave it to my friend this morning. She loves this little peacenik as much as I do!! The workmanship, choice of colors and sense of humor that went into this piece are outstanding.

Cute penguin with a message

I have placed the penguin next to a compote containing snowballs.
My order arrived the day the deal releasing hostages and prisoner exchange in Gaza was announced.

Perfect penguins

These little guys are so cute. This one, along with his companion "make snowballs not war" penguin and the little penguin holding a snowball, have been gifts, alone or in combination, for several of my friends. It started last year and I added more this year. These are great not too Christmas-y gifts for grown ups and everybody loves them!! I wrote a review last year saying I loved them but had received a couple with smeared printing - not this year; they're perfect. I've kept a couple for myself too - they're just so cool and unique. These are really worth the price - they'll make both you and the recipient smile- I guarantee it!!!
