Harbor Eve is a 7 block color woodcut, carved from pine and plywood blocks, and printed on acid-free Torinoko paper. Each block of wood is carved differently, inked a different color, and is printed, one at a time, under pressure, creating many color and tones and texture combinations. The grains of the woods weave throughout the printed image, giving the effect of wind and current.

Image size is 11x17 plus a generous border. This artwork should be matted then framed under glass or acrylic. Limited edition of 200.

Penny Feder

"I work late at night and into the morning in a quiet, dark spaciousness full of possibilities, where creating becomes a constant inner dialogue of conflict and choice. I take creative chances, make bold mistakes, go in unplanned directions. It is both exhilarating and exasperating. When a piece is complete, I feel it in my gut. Nevertheless, I will sleep on it (don't call me early!). "

Nothing passes Penny Feder's mind's eye that isn't revealed in her unique handling of colors, shapes, forms, and textures. She works in a variety of media, including printmaking, collage, oils, and pastels, and depicts a wide range of subjects from people and animals to architecture and nature. No matter the medium and subject, there is a special vision at work in her art. Contemplative and surprising, Penny Feder's work invites you into her world of design, color, and light.

Penny Feder's colors 'sing' in her mixed-media work, making the viewer want to touch and crawl into their surfaces. In her mixed-media work, Feder interweaves oil and acrylic pigments, torn papers, and fibers with a varnish mixture, all while scraping and reworking the canvas. Her series of glazed oils on gesso hardboard glow with richly layered colors. In her etchings, she combines traditional printmaking techniques with hand-painted color to create uniquely beautiful pieces.

Penny Feder graduated with a BA in art education and an MA in printmaking. An award winner in national and international competitions, Feder has exhibited in solo and group shows in the USA and Europe. Her work can be found in many private, public, and corporate collections, including the US State Department and the Smithsonian Institute. Her work has also been featured in several network television shows, including Roseanne and Melrose Place.
