The artist uses shibori dyeing techniques to impart a gauzy, flowing fabric with great depth of color and an exuberant texture reminiscent of a swelling sea. A signature style of the artist since 1998, this scarf was selected to be part of the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

The artist focuses on the ephemeral—a fragrance wafting on the wind, the riveting moment when someone first notices a lustrous flower in bloom—and designs these moments into the delicate patterns, colors, and textures of her scarves, bags, and accessories.

With a background that includes living in one of the most important of Japanese textile regions, Okano produces her textile lines with the precise craftsmanship and attention to detail of which Kiryu, Japan is world-renowned.

Delightful scarf in gorgeous colors

I bought 2 of the ocean scarf, in mango and violet (or purple). They are light and wrap beautifully around my neck. I am a scarf nut and have many, many elegant scarves as I wear one almost every day. After buying these I went back to Yuh Okano's site on Artful Home and bought another color and 5 other scarves by her. She is so talented and creates unique designs. The ocean scarves arrived quickly and carefully packaged.
