Linda O'Neill

"Art is a window to the soul and shines a light on authentic human experience. This is the very basis of Abstract Expressionism. It is raw and real and touches emotions within the artist and the viewer that transcends conversation."

While earning her BFA, Linda O'Neill created work with a printmaking emphasis. She developed a strong love for abstract work while creating monotypes, which led her to pursue abstract expressionism. Using color, movement, line, and contrast, she takes the viewer on an emotional and moving journey. Two artists who particularly inspire her are Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchell.

Linda uses acrylic paints for their quick-drying properties that allow for spontaneity. Her other materials are collage, paint pen, graphite, charcoal, and Caran d'Ache crayon. Always listening to music to distract critical thought, she paints multiple layers that give her paintings stunning depth, texture, and color.

Linda O'Neill received her BFA degree in 1993 from Dominican University in San Rafael, California. She was honored there with an award for outstanding student from the art department. After graduation, she worked as a digital painter on movies and commercials for Lucasfilm. O'Neill's work has been in numerous juried exhibitions in the USA, and her work has been collected in the USA, Canada, and Europe.
