Rainbowls are handblown from the furnace using cane techniques inspired by venetian glassmakers. Each line is a transparent color over a white core. Canes are laid on a cane marver, heated, and rolled onto a bubble. The wig-wag patterning is borrowed from flameworking and is achieved in the very same way only larger scale.

Sizes and shapes will vary slightly due to the handmade nature of the product.

Using both furnace and flameworking techniques, Marc VandenBerg creates engaging designs that reflect his spirited personality. He taught himself flameworking in the mid-1990s while attending Michigan State University. After graduation, he worked at The Henry Ford as part of a furnace production team. He has since taught and demonstrated internationally. He runs his own studio in Detroit, Michigan.
