Colors from the Mediterranean find their way into this four piece circle wall installation. Tuscan Mosaic combines the textures and colors of this rich region in the mosaic influenced design of these hand crafted ceramic and glass pieces. Satin and gloss carved ceramic circles are embellished with rich tones of glass while meticulously cut and placed pieces of glass are fused to create sparkle and depth on the fused glass circle. Ceramic circles are 4, 8 and 12 inches, and the glass circle is 8 inches in diameter. Pieces mount from 1" - 4" in relief from the wall. This piece comes with a full sized template and hardware for easy and accurate installation.

Janine Sopp and Barbara Galazzo

galazzo GLASS sopp CERAMIC
"Our collaboration gives us the ability to explore and express in our principle medium while we expand ourselves into infinite, creative possibilities. We push the boundaries of our materials in order to intertwine our vision and broaden our connection."

Glass artist Barbara Galazzo and ceramic artist Janine Sopp work together as an innovative design team. Inspired by the opposing forces of their differing media and techniques, they integrate colorful fused glass with rich, textural clay, melding their individual styles into cohesive sculptural creations. The glass, with its fluid transparency, dances onto and through the richly textured, earthy clay forms.

With attention to design and detail, Galazzo meticulously cuts and combines hundreds of colorful pieces of glass, layering them to create depth in what will become a final fused piece. Using wheel-throwing or slab-building techniques, Sopp alters then adds texture and stain to her organic forms in order to achieve the dimension she seeks. Both are masterful with their use of color.

Both artists have accomplished careers as a former dancer/potter and fashion/textile designer. They co-owned a gallery in New York City and have had their work featured in numerous magazines and publications, interior design projects, and national and international galleries and museums.
