This vibrantly hued glass seashell is blown and sculpted using century-old techniques; the glass is formed by rolling though colored chips, and metal tools are then used to achieve exquisite details. With an exterior featuring a subtle mirror finish, this artful tribute to sea life is a beautiful, shimmering addition to your glass collection. Sold individually.

Alexander Glassworks
"The process of making glass is truly magical. I've always been a maker and pyro so I feel like mastering molten glass was my destiny as an artist. I use historical glass techniques to transform 2100 degree molten fire into high end pieces. My unique sense of scale, composition, design, and color theory elevates my work among the top tier of hand made glass pieces being created today."

The work I am currently exploring is inspired by nature, textiles, travel, historical objects and architecture. More specifically patterns. Being an artist and world traveler, I look at the world around me and how it could be translated to glass. Instead of looking at the whole image I try to crop out one element I find visually interesting. Looking at this cropped object through a micro lens, I see how that small piece could be used in repetition to create an overall pattern.

Dan uses traditional hand glass sculpting and blowing techniques. Gathering 2100 degree molten glass from the furnace, he uses wood, graphite, and steel tools to sculpt the piece into its final product.

Dan attended Kent State University and received a BFA with a Glass Concentration. Post graduation, he studied with some of the top glass artists in the field today, He was hired in as the Studio Manager/Director of a glass factory, worked in Murano, Italy, and spent several years working for the Corning Museum of Glass where he held the Lead Gaffer position. For Corning he traveled the world educating the public about the science and history of glass art.

Not a review but a request

This is a lovely piece and I really like it in violet. It is larger than I pictured it-maybe too oversized to fit my collection displays. I'd be thrilled if you also offered it in a smaller version. Less expensive maybe too for those of us who are aspirational collectors! Thanks for.considering!

Stunning glass artwork

This shell piece has the surprise of pink against a metallic blue outer shell. The blue on my piece is darker and more metallic looking than the picture online. It is such a surprising piece. Very beautiful.
