Striking colorful fused glass sculpture. Lots of colored squares and rectangles of hand cut glass layered on top of each other like a large sandwich. The glass is fired in a kiln to 1500 degrees until it becomes one single piece of glass. The glass has a black base so light does not come through. The Sentinel will stand out in any location. Signed. Each piece is unique. Coloration and patterning will vary from piece to piece.

" I am interested in how colors mix and react to create depth and balance in the piece. I focus on the subtle effects light can have on the art."

Helen Rudy came to creating beautiful fused glass pieces from a non-traditional background in construction management. Her attention to color detail, layering, and saturation heralds back to her degree. Her crisp and clean designs clearly focus on the interaction of light and its effect on the glass.

Each piece of glass is measured and hand cut. By layering one color or many different colors on top of each other, a bright and bold design is created. The glass is first fired in a kiln to about 1500 degrees F to melting or fusing point. Sometimes a second firing is needed to create a shape. The glass can be in the kiln for several days before finishing.

Almost entirely self taught, Rudy attended workshops with Milon Townsend, and Lisa Voigt, attended the Pilchuck Scool of Glass to study with Alicia Lomne, and in 2011 studied casting Pate De Verre with Anna Boothe.

Great colors!

It is exactly what it looks like on the listing. Things to note, the back is solid black glass so light will not shine through.
I had to light it from the front. Pay attention to the size it is small but worked in my space.
I'm happy it!

Beautiful Art Glass Sculpture

This glass sculpture is on my modern glass top coffee table, but I have traditional and transitional furniture styles (eclectic) and this piece works beautifully with all, if you care about that sort of thing. I was concerned about my fat and curious cat being able to knock this over; however, the stand is remarkably sturdy with sufficient weight. I saw this piece and fell in love with it but decided to wait a bit to test how much I truly wanted it. I am thrilled with this art glass purchase! An artist friend of mine referred to this piece as "slightly totem like" and found it to be great fun.
