Gossamer glass threads add an intriguing sheen to these blown glass vases. To create the beguiling effect, the artist blows a glass vessel in a gradient of hues, then spins the form while a glass thread is pulled across the surface.

The small Hive style is a triangular form accented with two complementary colors. The large Cocoon form is graced with a wide belly, tapered top and bottom, and accented with three complementary colors. Each piece is unique and will vary.

From left to right vases are Blue Hive, Blue Cocoon, Green Cocoon, Green Hive, Yellow Hive, and Yellow Cocoon. Sold individually or in color matched pairs.

Hive: 6"H x 3"dia.
Cocoon: 9.5"H x 4.5"dia

The Furnace Inc.
"My mission is to explore new techniques and discover all the possibilities of glass making."

Corey Silverman created The Furnace in the summer of 2007.

Corey Silverman was formally trained as a glass artist at Alfred University in NY. After graduating with his BFA, Silverman worked with several glass studios before opening his own studio near Denver.

After much experimentation, Silverman found himself always coming back to the blown form. "I love the immediacy found in making a blown vessel."
