While creating this blown glass vessel, the artist adds layers of colored glass powders, clear frit, and copper fibers for a surface reminiscent of a misty landscape. Acid-etched for a satin finish. Each piece is unique; exact colors and patterns will vary. Vessel opening measures approx. 1 1/8".

Glass artist Daniel Scogna references details within the landscape to create a visual journal with his blown glass vessels. Leaves are a favorite form because they can suggest a particular time of year or a specific type of tree that may be indigenous to a certain area. Through each suggestion of a specific time and place, the artist documents the events of his life.

Scogna creates his unique textures through processes he has adapted from enameling techniques. This non-traditional approach allows him to draw imagery onto the hot glass by hand and vary the surface texture by applying color during different stages of the blowing process.

Unique and lovely work

This is my second piece of Daniel Scogna's work, but I'm sure it won't be my last. It is beautifully executed, and conveys the peace, silence and beauty of nature's wonders appearing and disappearing through the mist of a foggy day. I highly recommend this artist and his work, which is unique and inspires a mood of serenity and well-being.

Beautiful, delicate piece

I think this vase is beautiful. I am so glad I purchased it and put it in a bookcase in a hallway where I can appreciate it in the small moments. It enlivens a day and I feel appreciative.
