Invite a joyful flock of birds to your wall with these pieces sculpted from solid glass. In the right light, their brilliant plumage casts a colorful shadow on the wall behind.

Each sits securely on its metal perch thanks to a strong rare earth magnet adhered to its base. To hang, simply screw the perch securely into any wall or wood trim, then place the bird on the end. This hanging system also allows you to rearrange your birds whenever you wish! Every bird is unique and will vary.

David Jacobson has been honing his craft for over 26 years. His style of glassblowing employs elegant shapes, rich colors, and intriguing textures. His current work reflects the influence of nature, and also the rugged, gorgeous world of Maine. His stacked rocks of glass and his gestural birds are the result of this influence. More exploration continues daily.

First, the rocks are made. David blows his forms freehand, looking for the essence of what a rock looks like to him. Many rocks are made before the right one is selected. Next, employing complementary colors, David forms the birds out of solid, hot glass. He sculpts his birds in an abstract manner, looking for the gesture of the bird. After cooling, the objects are chemically adhered.

David Jacobson has learned from many glass artists over the years, including Lino Tagliapietra, Davide Salvadore, and Prague-based Martin Rosol. Through these experiences, David developed the skills and techniques he shows today. David lives in Maine, where the natural beauty is a constant inspiration for new creations.

I do realize that it is one of a kind, but would have liked it to be closer to the one in the picture. It is too dark. It will be a present. If it was for me personally i had it exchanged.
The concept is great.

Best Artist -- and Purple Bird on a Perch -- Ever!

My purple bird is exactly what I was looking for ... perfect colors and it looks awesome perched a few inches out from the wall (giving it a 3D look). I had a question or two and the artist, David Jacobson, was exceptionally responsive and considerate. I'll smile every time I look at this little piece of art on my wall! P.S. the photo I've uploaded doesn't do the colors justice ....
